Hudson James – Biography

Hudson James is a country singer, songwriter, and storyteller whose journey reflects the enduring spirit of the American Dream.

Born and raised in New York City to hardworking German immigrants, Hudson grew up surrounded by family businesses and the values that come with them—hard work, perseverance, and treating people with respect. His grandfather arrived in the United States with little more than determination and a belief that opportunity existed for those willing to work for it. Over time he built a small chain of jewelry and household stores, eventually owning nine locations. Having lived through the Great Depression, he believed business was about more than profit—it was about people. If a customer came up short, he would simply tell them to take care of the rest when they could.

That same spirit carried into Hudson’s childhood. His mother owned a German restaurant where hospitality always came first. During the holidays she made sure no one went without a meal, offering free dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas and never turning away someone who couldn’t afford to pay. Those early lessons about generosity, hard work, and community shaped Hudson’s approach to both life and his career.

Music entered Hudson’s life early. At just seven years old, while most kids were asking for toys, Hudson asked for a karaoke machine so he could sing. Encouraged by his family, he pursued music seriously and eventually attended a prestigious private music and theatre college that accepts only a small percentage of applicants.

After graduating, Hudson signed his first recording contract and spent five years recording and performing. As he gained experience in the industry, his entrepreneurial instincts led him to explore the business side of music. Rather than relying solely on a record label, he began promoting concerts himself, allowing him to take greater control of his career and share the stage with a wide range of artists.

When the COVID pandemic brought live events to a halt, Hudson once again adapted. He launched the podcast Stories Round the Table with Hudson and Joni alongside legendary country singer Joni Harms. The show quickly grew into a respected platform for conversations with artists and industry voices from across Nashville, including Duane Allen, Jamie O’Neal, and many others.

At the same time, Hudson began sharing cover performances online, where his videos have now surpassed 130,000 views and introduced his voice to a growing audience of country music fans.

Today Hudson James continues to expand his creative world across music, media, and storytelling. He has released five albums of original music—written entirely by him—with new music currently in development.

He is also preparing the launch of his cooking show Broke But Hungry with Hudson James along with a companion cookbook that brings together recipes from friends and artists across the country music community. Contributors include Jamie O’Neal, Joni Harms, Ryan Murphy, Flat River Band, and Jesse and Noah, along with other friends from the Nashville community.

Hudson is also launching a new industry talk program titled Country Hotline News, which he co-hosts with Vernell Hackett, where the two discuss news, developments, and behind-the-scenes stories from the country music world.

As his projects continue to grow, Hudson has assembled a professional team to guide the next chapter of his career. His management is led by Jimmy Murphy, who also manages Jamie O’Neal. Public relations is handled by Vernell Hackett, alongside a growing fan community and support network.

Through every project—music, media, and storytelling—Hudson James carries forward the lessons he learned as a child: work hard, treat people well, and never give up on the dream.
